Vietnam: Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism published licence renewal process to provide social network services

On 14 March 2025, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism implemented the procedure for renewing licences to provide social network services, in accordance with Decree No. 147/2024/NĐ-CP. The procedure requires platform intermediaries that host user-generated content to submit a renewal request at least 30 days before the current license expires. Renewal is conditional on compliance with existing legal provisions on the management of online information. The Ministry must assess the application and issue a renewed licence within 5 working days of receiving a complete and valid request. In the event of refusal, the Ministry must provide a written explanation.
