President signed Bill banning advertising on information resources whose activities are recognised as undesirable (Law No. 72-FZ)

On 7 April 2025, the President of the Russian Federation signed the Bill banning advertising on information resources whose activities are recognised as undesirable (Law No. 72-FZ), which will enter into force on 1 September 2025. The Law prohibits the distribution of advertisements on the websites of entities that have been officially designated as extremist or undesirable by a court decision. Advertisers and distributors associated with such organisations may be fined up to RUB 500'000 for violations. The Law also reduces the mandatory retention period for online advertising data from 3 to 5 years.
