On 27 March 2025, Kenya released its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy 2025–2030 to promote AI innovation, economic growth, and social inclusion. The strategy applies to AI developers, technology firms, and industries using AI in areas such as agriculture, security, healthcare, education, and public services. It focuses on digital infrastructure, a sustainable data ecosystem, and AI research and innovation, supported by governance, talent development, investment, and ethical AI deployment. It introduces a regulatory framework for ethical AI use, data sovereignty, and cybersecurity while aiming to include underserved communities. Implementation will be phased, starting with policy, infrastructure, and capacity-building investments, alongside initiatives such as a national AI policy, research hubs, and pilot projects, with ongoing monitoring and evaluation.
