Law No. 18-05 on electronic commerce including data localisation requirement entered into force

On 17 November 2018, Law No. 18-05 on electronic commerce entered into force. Those engaged in e-commerce as of its publication on 16 May 2018 had six months to comply with its provisions. The Law mandates that e-suppliers must host their websites locally with a “.com.dz” domain extension and register with the national trade registry. Additionally, they are required to store transaction records and submit them electronically to the national registry.
