On 28 March 2025, the European Commission adopted the work plan for the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) for 2025-2027, allocating EUR 1.3 billion. The initiative aims to support the development and testing of critical technologies that strengthen Europe's technological sovereignty and digital transformation. Priorities include expanding the use of generative AI in sectors such as healthcare, advancing cloud infrastructure, developing data spaces, and enhancing cyber resilience. Support is provided to the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) to encourage AI adoption across businesses and the public sector. Funding will also contribute to projects such as Destination Earth to improve climate adaptation efforts. Other objectives include strengthening cybersecurity, developing digital skills within EU educational institutions, promoting the EU Digital Identity Wallet, and modernising public services with high-quality digital solutions.
