Description

Adopted Italian implementation of the European Electronic Communications Code

The Italian government adopted the law implementing the European Electronic Communications Code, which aims to ensure interoperability in the telecommunication sector and will enter into full force on 24 December 2021.The law renders the Italian Electronic Communications Code conform to the instructions of the European Directive, strengthening the role and powers of the Ministry of Economic Development and the telecommunication and cybersecurity authorities. It further reforms the authorisation procedures to install radio infrastructures and to use the radio spectrum. Moreover, the Code reinforces end-user protection through changes in the contract requirements and the safeguards for number portability and switching between internet access providers.
