Announced first CNIL investigations on cookie practices

On 25 May 2021, the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) announced a campaign to ensure compliance with cookie requirements, after the publishing of related guidelines on 20 October 2020. Particularly, the CNIL announced that it has sent warnings to twenty organizations whose practices do not comply with the legislation on cookies. The persecuted practice is the impossibility for the users of the websites of these organizations to refuse cookies as easily as they can accept them. These organizations have a month to comply with the rules. Otherwise, they may receive a fine of up to 2% of their revenue. Finally, the CNIL has also announced that new investigations on the topic will be conducted in the following months.
