Algeria: Ordinance No. 03-03 on competition including competition authority governance entered into force

On 20 July 2003, Ordinance No. 03-03 on competition entered into force. Articles 23-39 establish the Competition Council as an independent administrative authority with nine members, including judicial and economic experts. It holds powers to investigate, issue binding decisions, and impose fines, while collaborating with sectoral regulators and foreign competition authorities under reciprocity conditions.
