Law No. 09-04 setting out specific rules for the prevention and fight against crimes related to information and communication technologies including data protection regulation entered into force

On 16 August 2009, Law No. 09-04 setting out specific rules for the prevention and fight against crimes related to information and communication technologies entered into force. The law obliges service providers to safeguard data integrity during investigations, ensuring seized data remains unaltered (Articles 5–6). It restricts the use of collected data strictly to judicial inquiries, prohibiting unauthorised disclosure (Article 9).
