Description

Law No. 23-19 on the written press and electronic press including business registration requirement entered into force

On 3 June 2024, Law No. 23-19 on the written press and electronic press entered into force. As per Article 79, periodical publications and electronic press entities were obligated to fully comply with the law's provisions within six months of its publication in the Official Journal on 2 December 2023. Articles 6 and 28 establish a declaration system for press entities, requiring publishers to register with the Ministry of Communication by submitting details such as ownership structure, director qualifications, and technical specifications (e.g., ".dz" domains for electronic press under Article 33). Non-compliance triggers fines (DZD 200'000–DZD 500'000, Articles 73–74).
