Algeria: Law No. 14-04 on the Audiovisual Activity including operational license requirement entered into force

On 23 March 2014, Law No. 14-04 on the Audiovisual Activity entered into force. The law establishes a licensing regime for audiovisual service providers, requiring prior authorisation for broadcasting via cable, satellite, or terrestrial frequencies (Articles 20–22). Unauthorised operation is punishable by fines of DZD 2 million to DZD 10 million and confiscation of equipment (Article 107).
