Description

Parliamentary motion on increasing impact of information provision and digitalisation policy within government service (No. 26643-1322) was introduced to House of Representatives

On 13 March 2025, a parliamentary motion on increasing the effectiveness of information provision and digitalisation policy within the civil service was introduced to the House of Representatives. The motion calls on the government to revise the System Decree on the Chief Information Officer of the Central Government in order to improve cooperation and implementation capacity between ministries in the field of digitalisation and information management. The motion applies to all ministries responsible for the organisation, operation, and coordination of digital and information systems within the Dutch civil service. It is based on the existing coordination powers under Article 44 of the Constitution and the Coordination Decree on the organisation, operation and information systems of the central government. The motion requests that the revised decree enhance the position of departmental Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and the central CIO Rijk, with the aim of improving interministerial governance and decision-making in digital transformation and ICT policy.
