Description

European Commission and Consumer Protection Cooperation Network announced investigation into Star Stable Entertainment over in-game marketing practices

On 21 March 2025, the European Commission and the Consumer Protection Cooperation (CPC) Network opened an investigation against Star Stable Entertainment AB concerning commercial practices in the game Star Stable Online. The action followed a complaint by the Swedish Consumers' Association and focused on practices such as direct appeals to children to make purchases, the use of time-limited offers to encourage spending, a lack of clear and child-friendly information about in-game currencies, and insufficient disclosure by influencers promoting the game. Star Stable Entertainment AB was given one month to respond to the CPC Network's common position and propose commitments to address the concerns identified.
