Turkiye: Cybersecurity Law (Law No. 7545) including import tariff exception was introduced to Grand National Assembly

On 10 January 2025, the Cybersecurity Law (Law No. 7545) was introduced to the Grand National Assembly. The scope of this Law would encompass public institutions, professional organisations, private entities, and individuals operating within the cyberspace domain, with exceptions for intelligence activities under national security laws. The Law would provide definitions, basic principles and responsibilities for cybersecurity, including the protection of critical infrastructure, data security and the role of the cybersecurity response team. The Law stipulates that materials, equipment, and systems imported or donated for the Presidency's cybersecurity needs would be exempt from customs duties, fees, and stamp tax, including related spare parts and aid materials. Furthermore, it is stated that no permits or certificates of conformity from public or private entities would be required for such imports and exports. Additionally, public institutions may temporarily allocate or transfer necessary equipment or materials to the Presidency free of charge, irrespective of other legal provisions.
