Implementation of a new Decree that lowers the control thresholds for FDI screening and adds new sectors into the mechanism`s scope.

On 1 January 2020, the French government adopted Decree No 2019-1590 that modifies the screening mechanism for FDI authorisations. Art. 1 also modifies the Monetary and Financial Code by lowering the threshold from 33% to 25% for the acquisition of voting rights by foreign investors in essential economic activities. This applies to economic activities but not limited to information and technology systems and security, cryptology, data processing and collection, telecommunications services.
