On 8 April 2024, the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) opened the public consultation period for the Draft Kenya Standard titled “Information Technology — Artificial Intelligence (AI) — Code of Practice for AI Applications” (DKS 3007:2024). Stakeholders were invited to provide comments until 13 June 2024. The draft aims to establish a framework for the responsible development and deployment of AI systems. It addresses areas such as trustworthiness, risk management, and ethical considerations, referencing international standards such as KS ISO/IEC 5339 and the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act. The draft highlights the need for continuous validation and monitoring of AI systems during operation to ensure they meet performance expectations and adhere to safety and security requirements.
