On 18 February 2025, a Bill on the Regulation of Artificial Intelligence (No. 526/2025) was introduced in the Chamber of Deputies. The Bill prohibits certain AI applications that are considered high risk, including mass surveillance without judicial authorisation, AI-generated disinformation, discriminatory AI models, and fully automated judicial or administrative decisions without human review. The Bill sets out requirements for the use of AI, covering areas such as data protection, decision-making processes and oversight mechanisms. In addition, it outlines legal provisions for compliance and enforcement related to the use of AI in Brazil.
