Egypt: Arab Competition Network was established through collaboration between the Arab League and the Egyptian Competition Authority

Description

Arab Competition Network was established through collaboration between the Arab League and the Egyptian Competition Authority

On 17 March 2022, the Arab Competition Network was launched at the League of Arab States headquarters. This network resulted from a proposal by the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) during the sixteenth meeting of the Arab Expert Group on Competition and Monopoly Control in November-December 2021. The initiative implements decisions from the Economic and Social Council of the League of Arab States at its 109th session, which welcomed the establishment of an Arab competition platform. The network follows earlier directives from the 2004 Tunis Arab Summit (Resolution 272) and the 2013 Riyadh Economic Development Summit, which called for developing technical cooperation and unifying competition policies among Arab countries within the Greater Arab Free Trade Area framework.
