On 1 March 2025, the National Data Administration (NDA) initiated the deployment of a national public data resource cataloguing platform. This platform systematically registers public data resources, akin to land registration, creating a structured inventory that should enhance governance and enable the development of value-added data services. It is mandatory for all authorised or planned authorised public data resources to be catalogued on the platform, with participation obligatory for relevant government agencies and institutions. The National Medical Security Administration was the inaugural central department to catalogue its data on the platform, with a particular focus on medical insurance data related to drug traceability. This data tracks the lifecycle of medicines from production to sale. Regulatory bodies may utilise it to monitor compliance and identify activities such as counterfeit drug distribution, while pharmaceutical companies may apply it in drug development and sales strategy planning.
