National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority released guide on the terms and conditions needed for the award of a licence to provide internet connectivity services (Class B) in the Arab Republic of Egypt

On 21 November 2020, the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) in Egypt issued guidelines for obtaining a licence to provide Internet Connectivity Services (Class B). The licence, valid for five years and renewable, requires applicants to have relevant experience in international data transfer and sufficient financial capability. Applicants must submit detailed company information, financial statements, and a five-year feasibility study covering market analysis, operational plans, and financial projections. The licence fee is EGP 150'000, with an annual fee of 3% of revenues (minimum EGP 300'000). Licensees must provide connectivity services between local and international networks (excluding public internet and voice telephony) and ensure non-discriminatory service provision. A financial guarantee of EGP 300'000 is required to secure compliance.
