Second-stage consultation regarding the protection of people working for platforms closed

On 15 September 2021, after being opened on 15 June 2021, the European Commission has closed the second-stage consultation concerning the working conditions of people working through digital labour platforms, addressed to European social partners. The consultation covered potential future EU regulations regarding platform work, such as classification of employment status, the use of algorithms to manage work, cross-border platform work, and collective representation. Finally, instruments for possible instruments for EU action were consulted upon. The next step following this consultation will either involve negotiations between the involved social partners or a follow-up proposal by the European Commission.
