Brazil: Administrative Council for Economic Defense approved acquisition of Shopper by iFood

On 26 February 2025, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) approved the proposed acquisition of Shopper by iFood without restrictions. The order highlighted that iFood is a Brazilian platform that facilitates online deliveries from restaurants, pharmacies, grocery stores, and other businesses, and Shopper operates as a grocery delivery service. The order also highlighted that the transaction does not present risks to competition, as it only involves the acquisition of a minority stake by iFood, and Shopper still has a relatively restricted performance in the state of São Paulo.
