Artificial Intelligence (Regulation) Act 2025 including intellectual property provisions was introduced to House of Lords

On 4 March 2025, the Artificial Intelligence (Regulation) Bill was introduced to the House of Lords. The Bill would require the Secretary of State, in consultation with the AI Authority, to establish regulations requiring anyone involved in AI training to record all third-party data and intellectual property (IP) used, and to ensure compliance with informed consent and copyright laws. In addition, companies providing AI-related products or services would be required to provide clear health warnings, labelling and informed consent options prior to customer use. Furthermore, any company developing, deploying or using AI would be required to allow independent audits by third parties accredited by the AI Authority to ensure compliance.
