United States of America: Rumble and Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) filed lawsuit against the Supreme Federal Tribunal of Brazil over suspension based on alleged free speech violations

On 19 February 2025, Rumble Inc. and Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) filed a lawsuit in the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida against Judge Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Federal Tribunal of Brazil (STF). The lawsuit seeks a declaratory judgment that Moraes' orders requiring Rumble to block accounts associated with a Brazilian political commentator and to appoint a legal representative in Brazil are unenforceable in the United States. The plaintiffs argue that these orders violate the US First Amendment, the Communications Decency Act (CDA), and international treaties, including the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) and the Hague Service Convention. They also seek injunctive relief to prevent enforcement of the orders, citing potential operational consequences and restrictions on their platforms.
