On 28 February 2025, the European Union (EU) and India adopted a joint statement following the Trade and Technology Council (TTC) second meeting. On artificial intelligence (AI) regulation, the EU and India reiterated their commitment to safe, secure, trustworthy, human-centric, sustainable, and responsible AI. Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation between the European AI Office and India AI Mission to foster innovation and information exchange on common open research questions for developing trustworthy AI. They also committed to enhancing collaboration on large language models and harnessing AI for human development and the common good, including through joint projects focused on ethical and responsible AI frameworks. This builds on existing Research and Development (R&D) collaboration in high-performance computing applications related to natural hazards, climate change, and bioinformatics.
