On 4 February 2025, the Act amending Arizona Revised Statutes regulating unlawful disclosure of intimate images was introduced to the Arizona Senate. The Act proposes amendments to Section 13-1425 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, to amend the regulation of unlawful disclosure of intimate images. The Act makes it illegal to intentionally disclose an image of another person who is identifiable and depicted in a state of nudity or engaged in specific sexual activities, provided the person had a reasonable expectation of privacy. It highlights that the disclosure must be intended to harm, harass, intimidate, threaten, or coerce the depicted person. The Act also provides exceptions for lawful reporting, law enforcement practices, legal proceedings, medical treatment, voluntary public exposure, and disclosures made with the depicted person’s consent.
