Kenya: Data Protection Act including age verification requirement entered into force

On 25 November 2019, Data Protection Act, 2019 entered into force. The Act specifies that processing personal data relating to children requires consent from a parent or guardian and must be done in a manner that protects and advances the child's best interests. Data controllers and processors are required to implement age verification mechanisms to ensure compliance, particularly when handling data that may belong to minors.
