Lithuania: Implemented amendment to Law on Electronic Communications

On 1 December 2021, the new Law on Electronic Communications was implemented. The new Law enacts the European Electronic Communications Code, and includes a number of significant changes. The definition of 'electronic communication' is expanded to include electronic communications services which are not based on phone numbers, including internet access services. Further, there will be an obligation to provide affordable electronic communications services to certain classes of consumers, and the switching of service providers will be made easier.
