European Union: Expanded scope of EDPB task force regarding potential enforcement actions conducted by data protection authorities to cover DeepSeek

On 12 February 2025, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) broadened the scope of its ChatGPT task force to include other AI systems, including the Chinese AI chatbot DeepSeek, in response to investigations by national data protection authorities into data collection practices. To strengthen coordination on privacy matters, the EDPB announced the establishment of a quick response team to assist national enforcement efforts.
