Description

Ministry of Youth and Information and Communication Technology released National Data Revolution Policy

On 1 April 2017, the Ministry of Youth and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), now known as the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, issued the National Data Revolution Policy, emphasising the importance of data in driving innovation and economic growth. The policy underscores the principle of data sovereignty, whereby national data is entirely accessed and controlled by Rwanda, subject to its own laws. It mandates that Rwanda's structured and unstructured national data should be hosted locally or, if hosted outside the country, under agreed terms and governed by Rwandan legislation.
