Description

Data residency requirement in social media law adopted

Law No. 7253 amending the "Law on Regulation of Publications on the Internet and Suppression of Crimes Committed by Means of Such Publications" is adopted by the Turkish Parliament. The Law requires "social networks" that are accessed by more than one million users every day to take "necessary measures" to keep the data of Turkish users in Turkiye. The Law will be implemented once published in the Turkish Official Gazette.
