Cyberspace Administration issued ruling against 82 applications over data protection violations

On 19 February 2025, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) took enforcement action against 82 applications for violating personal information protection regulations. The ruling applies to application developers and operators that failed to disclose data collection rules or provide legally required deletion and correction functionalities. As part of the enforcement, four applications, including "Open a Mystery Room", were removed from application stores for non-disclosure. Additionally, 78 applications, including "Dynamic Wallpaper Emperor", were ordered to rectify deficiencies within one month. It was highlighted that non-compliant applications will face removal if they fail to meet the deadline.
