Law No. 77-00 amending and supplementing the Press and Publishing Code including content moderation regulation was endorsed by the King

On 3 October 2002, the King signed Dahir No. 1-02-207 promulgating Law No. 77-00, which amends and supplements Dahir No. 1-58-378 of 15 November 1958 forming the Press and Publishing Code. The law prohibits material undermining Islam, the monarchy, territorial integrity, or public order (Articles 29, 41) and penalises incitement to racial hatred, false news, and defamation (Articles 39a, 42, 44–48). Content harmful to morality, including pornography, is banned (Articles 59–66). Authorities can seize or suspend violating publications (Article 77), with penalties ranging from fines to imprisonment (Articles 23, 39, 74a). Publishers and editors bear full responsibility for compliance (Articles 67–68).
