China: State Administration for Market Regulation opened consultation on guidelines for construction of digital standards system

Description

State Administration for Market Regulation opened consultation on guidelines for construction of digital standards system

On 13 February 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation released the draft guidelines for the construction of a digital standards system and opened a public consultation until 12 March 2025. The guidelines aim to advance standardisation towards digitalisation, networking, and intelligence by establishing a digital standards system. This system focuses on three dimensions, namely lifecycle (content creation, management, delivery, application), capability characteristics (display, processing, execution, interpretation, decision-making), and application levels (standard, interaction, information, functional, business). The guidelines list goals, which include developing at least 20 national standards by 2025, enhancing foundational, process, digital, and application standards, and promoting international cooperation. Implementation involves coordinated management, accelerated standard development, infrastructure strengthening, and active engagement in international standardisation activities.
