On 8 February 2025, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) issued the Administrative Measures for the Dissemination of Military Information on the Internet. The regulation includes identity verification requirements for individuals and organisations seeking to share military information online. Platforms must authenticate the real identities of users managing military accounts and classify them based on their credentials. Only verified military units, government-approved institutions, and individuals with recognised expertise or official training are permitted to operate military-related accounts. Unauthorised use of military-related names, symbols, or affiliations is prohibited, and former military personnel cannot use their past titles to create or manage accounts. Internet platforms must monitor compliance, violations, and ensure that unverified users cannot access reports or disseminate restricted military information. The measures come into force on 1 March 2025.
