On 8 February 2025, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) issued the Administrative Measures for the Dissemination of Military Information on the Internet. The regulation imposes controls on the creation, publication, and distribution of military-related content online. It mandates adherence to national security policies, prohibits the dissemination of classified or sensitive military information, and requires platforms to publish only content from approved sources. The measures also ban misinformation, distortion of military history, and content that undermines the authority or reputation of the armed forces. Platforms and users are encouraged to promote content aligned with government narratives on military development, national security, and defence achievements, while authorities retain the right to remove or penalize content deemed harmful to public perception or state interests. The measures come into force on 1 March 2025.
