Norwegian Environment Agency announced inspections on e-commerce platforms for products that may contain hazardous substances

On 13 February 2025, the Norwegian Environment Agency, under the directives of the Minister of Climate and Environment announced an investigation into hazardous substances in products sold through non-European online platforms, such as Temu, Shein, and Alibaba. This initiative follows findings of illegal levels of chemicals such as phthalates and cadmium in imported consumer goods, aiming to ensure that these e-commerce intermediaries comply with Norway's import regulations. The agency will continue to monitor and report on the progress of these inspections.
