United States of America: Attorney General of Texas announced investigation into DeepSeek over violations of Data Privacy and Security Act

On 14 February 2025, the Attorney General of Texas announced an investigation into DeepSeek over violations of the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act. The investigation focuses on the alleged mishandling of user data. It was highlighted that the Attorney has issued third-party Civil Investigative Demands to Google and Apple for their analysis of the DeepSeek application and related documentation. It was also highlighted DeepSeek has been notified that its platform violates the Act.
