DSK publishes guidelines on German law on privacy protection in telecommunication (TTDSG)

On 20 December 2021, the Datenschutzkonferenz (DSK), the convention of German data protection oversight bodies, published an set of guidelines on the Federal Act on the Regulation of Data Protection and Privacy in Telecommunications and Telemedia (TTDSG) for use by telemedia service providers. The guidelines set out the obligations of service providers under the TTDG, which came into force on 1 December 2021. Specifically, the guidelines focus on the requirement of obtaining consent for the storing of personal information on user devices, and the rules around the processing of such information through tools such as cookies.
