Morocco: Office des Changes issued warning against the use of virtual currencies

On 20 November 2017, Exchange Office, known as Office des Changes (OC), issued a warning against the use of virtual currencies, urging individuals and entities to adhere to existing regulations, following continued cryptocurrency use despite previous advisories. Highlighting their unregulated nature, high volatility, and lack of consumer protection, the authorities emphasised that virtual currencies pose significant risks and could enable illicit activities such as money laundering or financing criminal operations.
