Announced additional CNIL investigations on cookie practices

On 14 December 2021, the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) announced a new campaign to ensure compliance with cookie requirements. After previously already sending orders to around 60 companies, the CNIL sent approximately thirty additional orders to private, national, and international organizations whose cookie practices are in breach of the applicable legislation. CNIL states, that breaches include the application of cookies before consent is obtained, non-compliant information banners, and the refusal of cookies by users being more difficult than their acceptance.
