European Union: European Data Protection Board adopted statement on age assurance

On 12 February 2025, the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) adopted a comprehensive statement on age assurance, aiming to establish a cohesive supranational approach within the European Union. Through this initiative, the EDPB outlines ten guiding principles for age verification processes that prioritise data protection and the safeguarding of minors' rights.
