Description

National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2023-2033 was adopted

On 1 October 2023, Ghana launched its National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy 2023-2033. Developed by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation with support from Smart Africa, GIZ FAIR Forward, and The Future Society, the strategy focuses on eight pillars, including AI education, workforce development, digital infrastructure, data governance, ecosystem coordination, sector-wide adoption, applied research, and public sector AI use. It also addresses risks like bias, privacy, and job displacement. A key recommendation is the creation of a Responsible AI Office to oversee implementation and ensure Ghana's AI competitiveness by 2033.
