Law No. 24/2016 Governing Information and Communication Technologies including content moderation regulation entered into force

On 27 June 2016, Law No. 24/2016 Governing Information and Communication Technologies entered into force after its publication in the official gazette. The law prohibits the dissemination of content deemed "grossly offensive," "indecent," or intended to cause "annoyance, inconvenience, or needless anxiety" via public electronic communication networks. Additionally, it grants authorities the power to suspend or restrict network or service operations to safeguard public safety or national security​.
