Signals Directorate adopted outline on role of bulletproof hosting providers in enabling cybercrime

On 22 January 2025, the Australian Signals Directorate adopted an outline on the role of bulletproof hosting providers (BPHs) in enabling cybercrime. It was highlighted that these providers offer secure infrastructure to cybercriminals, allowing them to carry out illicit activities such as hosting malicious content, deploying malware, and conducting phishing campaigns without fear of detection or intervention. It was also highlighted that governments, law enforcement, and private sector entities are working together to target and disrupt these providers by blocking traffic from known BPHs and cooperating with legitimate infrastructure providers.
