Singapore: Ministry of Digital Development and Information directed Infocomm Media Development Authority to block access to the East Asia Forum's website in Singapore

On January 24, 2025, the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) directed the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) to block access to the East Asia Forum's website in Singapore due to non-compliance with a Correction Direction issued under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA). The Correction Direction, issued on 22 January 2025, pertained to alleged falsehoods in the article titled "Singapore’s new prime minister entangled in old politics". Internet service providers in Singapore are required to disable access to the website. Additionally, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office instructed the POFMA Office to issue Targeted Correction Directions to Meta Platforms, LinkedIn Corporation, and X Corp, mandating that they communicate correction notices to all Singaporean users who accessed the article through their platforms.
