Foreign Ministry issued a statement on alleged unlawful data sharing with the Chinese Government

On 17 January 2025, the Foreign Ministry made a statement regarding the alleged unlawful sharing of user data by Chinese companies such as Temu and TikTok with the Chinese government. The Foreign Ministry stated that the Chinese Government has never asked and will not ask a company or individual to collect or share data that conflicts with the local laws in the market in which the company is operating. The Foreign Ministry noted the need to respect the principles of a market economy and fair competition, fundaments that should also be granted to Chinese companies.
