On 29 October 2021, the Commission of the European Union (EC) adopted the delegated act to the Radio Equipment Directive. The act was created in an effort to strengthen the cybersecurity requirements for wireless devices and ensure the resilience of communication networks. The delegated act outlines new cybersecurity provisions in order to guarantee the protection of individuals’ privacy and personal data and prevent monetary fraud. The manufacturers of devices such as mobile phones and fitness trackers will have to follow the new requirements when they are designing and producing the products if they want to sell them in the EU market.
