United Kingdom: Obligation for platforms publishing or displaying their own adult content to implement age assurance measures under Office of Communications's Codes of Practice for Age Assurance and Children’s Access entered into force

On 17 January 2025, the obligation for Part 5 services (services that publish or display their own pornographic content) in the United Kingdom to implement "highly effective" age assurance measures entered into force. The requirement is established under the Office of Communications (Ofcom) Age Assurance and Access Statement implementing the Online Safety Act 2023. These measures aim to prevent children from accessing harmful content and must meet criteria for technical accuracy, robustness, reliability, and fairness.
