Infocomm Media Development Authority's Code of Practice for Online Safety for App Distribution Services including age assurance measures enters into force

On 31 March 2025, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA)'s Code of Practice for Online Safety for App Distribution Services (ADSs) (app stores) comes into effect. Designed to enhance protection against harmful online content, the Code mandates designated ADSs with significant reach to implement system-level measures to reduce users' exposure to harmful content, particularly protecting children from age-inappropriate material. It also requires age assurance measures to prevent children from accessing unsuitable apps based on age ratings.
